If you’ve trained in a few places, you’ll know this: two gyms can both have a “hack squat”… and one feels locked-in and smooth, while the other feels awkward from rep one.
That’s why we’ve built Physique Fit differently.
Our equipment has been hand-picked by Luke Matthews (owner of Physique Fit) to give you machines and stations that feel right to train on, help you hold better positions, and make consistent progress easier to repeat week after week.

Why our equipment isn’t “just a standard kit list.”
Bigger commercial gyms sometimes go wide: lots of kit, but not always the best versions of it and often multiple of the same.
At Physique Fit, the focus is on training tools that support:
Strong, stable set-ups
Clear progression (week to week)
A better “feel” through the full rep
Options for legs, upper, and conditioning without guesswork
Some of our machines are Precor, alongside other hand-picked pieces that earned their place on the floor.

Loading profiles & ergonomics: why machines feel different
Not all machines are built the same, even if they’re labelled the same.
Two differences that change everything:
Loading profile: where it’s hardest/easiest through the range. That changes what you feel and how well you can control the rep.
Ergonomics: pad angles, handle positions, seat height, footplate set-up, and how well the machine fits real bodies (not just one “average” frame).
The goal isn’t to make training “easy”. It’s to make hard training repeatable, with less fighting the equipment and more focusing on quality reps.
Why Luke Matthews chose this mix
Luke’s approach is simple: pick equipment that lets members train with intent.
That means:
Plate-loaded options when you want that heavy, stable feel
Pin-loaded options for quick changes and clean progression
Enough variety to train around limitations without turning every session into a compromise
If you’re unsure what to use for your goal, we’ll point you to the right stations and the right set-up.
